Councilwoman Althea Graves

Althea Graves is a retired educator, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She began her work as a community activist in Providence in the early 1970s. Graves has served on numerous boards, committees, and commissions throughout Central Providence, most notably the Providence Community Library Board of Directors, Community Action Partnership of RI (CAPP RI), Smith Hill Partnership Initiative (SHPI), Smith Hill Advocacy and Resource Partnerships (SHARP), and the Providence Community Health Centers Board of Directors (PCHC). She is an outspoken supporter of healthy, inclusive, and equitable health services, education, and housing. In her role as councilwoman, she pledges to continue to fight for quality-of-life issues within the city.
