City Treasurer

The City Treasurer, who is chosen by election by the Providence City Council and operates under the Council’s purview, provides financial oversight, planning, and administrative duties as they relate to management of the City’s finances. 

Shomari Husband was elected to the position of City Treasurer in October 2023. Husband is a certified public accountant and graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he received a Master of Business Administration, and Lincoln University, where he received a Bachelor of Science.

The City Treasurer’s office is located at City Hall, 25 Dorrance Street, Room 405, Providence, RI 02903.
