Councilor Jill S. Davidson

Council member Jill S. Davidson represents Ward 2, which includes the Blackstone, College Hill, and Wayland neighborhoods.

Councilor Davidson is an accomplished nonprofit leader and strategist dedicated to advancing equity, education, and environmental sustainability through communications, fundraising, and organizational development. She currently serves as Director of Development and Communications at the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council. Councilor Davidson is also a dedicated community leader whose volunteer work spans education, nonprofit advancement, and civic engagement. She currently serves on the boards of the Center for Leadership and Educational Equity and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Rhode Island Chapter. Councilor Davidson has held long-term leadership positions with multiple parent-teacher organizations in Providence, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School PTO, Nathan Bishop Middle School PTO, and the Classical High School Community Association.

Councilor Davidson received her A.B. from Brown University and her M.Ed. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Councilor Davidson and her husband Kevin have lived in the Blackstone neighborhood in Providence for more than 20 years and are the proud parents of three adult sons. Along with gardening, cooking, reading, and walking, Councilor Davidson finds joy with family, friends, community, and her dog June and cats Al and Nicole.

Ward 2: Blackstone, College Hill, Wayland

Ward 2 is comprised of 3 neighborhoods; Blackstone, College Hill and Wayland. This area was the location of the first colonial settlement in Rhode Island by Roger Williams in the seventeenth Century and the area was further developed by Chad Brown in the nineteenth century.  Now, Ward 2 is home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design as well as an impressive collection of historically preserved eighteenth and nineteenth century architecture including the Ladd Observatory and the Providence Athenaeum. Ward 2 boasts the Roger Williams National Memorial, the RISD Museum and the Blackstone Conservation District as just a few of its many attractions.
