The Providence City Council Communications Department is the public facing arm of the City Council. Working closely with Council members and leadership, the “Comms Team” shares the Council’s legislative and civic priorities as well as programmatic and outreach efforts with city residents, the press, media, and visitors via the Council website, press releases, advisories, op-eds, social media, newsletters, videos, and graphics. 

The Providence City Council Constituent Services Department is dedicated to assisting residents with inquiries, concerns, and issues affecting their communities. The team works closely with council members and city departments to address a wide range of topics, from infrastructure needs to public safety and community resources. By serving as a bridge between constituents and government, we ensure timely and effective resolutions to local concerns. 

The Providence City Council Policy Department is the research and advisory arm of the City Council. Working closely with Council members and leadership, the “Policy Team” provides in-depth analysis, research, and recommendations on legislative matters, helping to shape policies that align with the Council’s goals. The department assists in drafting ordinances, resolutions, and reports, while ensuring that proposed legislation reflects best practices and the needs of Providence residents. The Policy Department plays a key role in supporting the Council’s decision-making processes and policy development initiatives.

The Providence City Council Project Management Department is responsible for the planning, execution, management, and oversight of infrastructure and capital improvement projects funded by the City Council. Collaborating with various city departments, the PMD ensures that Council funds are effectively utilized to enhance and support citywide initiatives.
