Miguel Sanchez is a passionate community advocate with a long history of advocating for marginalized communities, whether that is providing testimony at the State House for Medicare for All or in the streets protesting injustices.
Sanchez’s abuelito moved to Providence in the late 1980s and started the first Mexican small business in Rhode Island. Miguel is the first Mexican-American elected to the Providence City Council.
He currently is the Vice-Chair of the Olneyville Neighborhood Association Board.
Sanchez is looking to play an integral role in building compassionate systems that work for everyone in Providence and creating a more transparent government. In his free time, Miguel enjoys cruising in his lowrider and taking his dog’s Frida and Tallulah on long walks.
